The magic of horses…

“I have taken several groups to Herd by Horses run by Kelly and a therapist over the last four years. The students have been excited to attend their session and have developed greater confidence with reading and ‘giving it a go’. Other students have been able to open up and share personal difficulties caused by trauma, separation, or death of a family member. Herd by Horses provided a safe environment where these students can learn from one and others’ experience and realise they are not alone. On the days students attended Herd by Horses they were always at school (they didn’t want to miss out) and over time this helped develop a better attitude about being at school.” CL

“Equine therapy has proven to be immensely beneficial for individuals dealing with anxiety and trauma. Horses possess an extraordinary ability to connect with humans on an emotional level, creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for people to explore their emotions and work through their challenges. The presence of these magnificent animals has a calming effect and offers a unique opportunity for people to develop a sense of trust and self-confidence.” PL

“We were lucky enough to have a few sessions with Herd By Horses and we loved it. How fantastic to get out into the country and breathe in some fresh air while interacting with animals that have positive effects on mental health. Experiencing, caring counsellors that approach you and your children holistically. The kids were delighted with the fun session structure and it was just nice being heard by someone! (Herd) and having some time out together. I wanted to be with my girls in a safe space where we could all be looked after together. lt was just cool. We were also given really good information on where to find ongoing resources for parenting support. Kids will thrive here. Parents will breathe deeper here. Families will leave smiling.” AR

“I feel free and relaxed, which makes me feel comfortable to open up and communicate. Since Herd By Horses I feel a lot of changes. I feel as though I've been able to move on from the negative things that don't serve me anymore and only hold me back, as well as healthy communication in my home life and processing my negative emotions and turning them into something positive. I have been doing therapy/counselling since I was 6 and through every councillor, therapist, psychologist, I hadn't felt heard or cared for, like it was just a job to them until I went to Herd By Horses. I felt a sense of trust to the point where I felt comfortable doing sessions with my family which, before Herd by Horses I always said I wouldn't do. Herd By Horses provides a space where it's safe to do that and be vulnerable.” RC
